The Ontario Poetry Society Presents:

The Ultra Short Poem Competition 2026
Open to Canadians and permanent residents of Canada only

Awards
First Prize $100 - Second Prize $75 - Third Prize $50 - Fourth Prize $25, Plus 40 Judge's Choice Awards. All Prize Winning Poems will be published in a chapbook anthology and receive one free copy.

Subject Guidelines:
All themes and styles welcome. Poems submitted may be previously published but no previous contest winning poems please.

Submission Rules:
Poems are to be no longer than 8 lines and no more than 8 words on a line. Spaces between stanzas count as lines. Poem title & space between the title and body of the poem do not count as lines.
Poems to be typed one poem per page, single-spaced in Arial 12 font, on white 8.5 x 11" paper.

Blind Judging:
No author ID to be anywhere on the same page as the poem, front or back. Include a cover page with name, complete mailing address, incl. apt.# and postal code, tel. # and e-mail if possible with a list of poem titles or first line, if no poem title(s).

Deadline, Entry Fee:
$10 CAD for up to 5 poems, additional poems $2 each. There is no limit to the number of submissions per poet. Entries must be postmarked on or before July 31st, 2026. Enclose a #10 s.a.s.e. for the winners list and you will also receive a $1 coupon to be used for a future T.O.P.S. contest. Contest results will be posted on our website at www.theontariopoetrysociety.ca.
